Every Friday, I share a handful of my favorite things from around the web and around the world. Enjoy!
Shopping, pacifist humor, and luxury vacations – this week there’s something for everyone!
1. Thumbs and Ammo
What happens when the guns from iconic movie scenes are replaced with thumbs? This Tumblr tells all. (Photo: Thumbs and Ammo)
2. Freshbox
I can’t count the number of times I’ve opened up the fridge to make dinner and discovered yet another ingredient that is well past its expiration date. Every time we clean out our fridge or pantry, we end up throwing away a ton of food – which is a ton of money down the drain. Freshbox is a mobile app (iOS only, as far as I can tell) that aims to prevent that from happening. Record the expiration date of foods, medications and even beauty products and let the app remind you when it’s time to use them up or toss them out. (Photo: ChingeDesign)
3. Touching Portraits of Mothers With Their One-Day-Old Babies
Is it *cough* dusty in here? Looking into the eyes of all these moms with their freshest-of-fresh newborns reminds me of all the love and nurturing I felt for Evan when he was new to the world. And it’s refreshing that there are more and more images being published of what a mom’s body really looks like after she’s given birth. (Photo: Jenny Lewis)
4. Dwell Store
Dwell is perhaps the best home design magazine on the planet; it was only a matter of time before they took their amazing eye for products and opened their own shop. One of everything, please. Two of these screw tables.
5. Private islands for rent in the US
Because buying our own island just isn’t practical for most of us. Then again, looking at the rental prices for these private slices of heaven – renting isn’t either. (Photo: Little Palm Island)
Oh that app sounds AMAZING. I am so sad when food spoils and I have to toss it.
I love the block set, it looks decorative in addition to fun and educational
I would love to rent a private island, I may never leave though.
Haha Love the Thumbs & Guns! That’s awesome!
I downloaded Freshbox a while ago, but I always forget to use it… sigh…
I like the idea of the Freshbox app, but I bet I would forget to use it, like the old lettuce in my fridge.
I discovered a moldy lime today… I think I need Freshbox
Oh what I wouldn’t give to have my own private island…even if just for a day!
I need that app! I’m actually downloading it right now!
I love Dwell Store – they have such cute stuff!
I wish I was able to get newborn pictures taken of my babies.
I would love to rent an island!
Oh how cool to rent an Island! Not cheap!!
I love the sound of that Freshbox app and who wouldn’t love a private island!
Oh, 1 private island please. That would be so stinkin’ cool!
I would totally go for renting that island right now! And that mobile app sounds like something I need – we aren’t too bad about letting things go to waste, but I would love to completely prevent it if I could.
I love the idea of Freshbox, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t take the time to enter the expiration date. I’ll check it out but I’m hoping it works by scanning somehow.
If you had a huge group of friends pitch in to rent the island it could be an awesome girl’s getaway weekend. 🙂
This is so fun, I love the app that helps remember food and such! I always run into that issue!!!
What a fun little round up! I love the different topics. 🙂
Dwell is one of my favorite places!
I wish I had my own private island, I’d probably be there right now!
I need Freshbox. Why haven’t I heard of this before?
